• APV manufactures many customer-owned formula solvent-based cements and specializes in off-site cement production; APV can produce HAP’s-free versions of the above and also often formulate lower VOC variations of the same;
• APV has several water-based cements for application to tread splices/tread ends, to under treads, and as bead dips. These cements have no VOC content and, because minimal amounts of cement are used to create high adhesion values, these cements are extremely economic in use and can generate significant cost-savings.
• There exists a ‘natural reticence’ to change proven ways of making tires, especially when water rather than solvent is being considered. If tires cannot be made satisfactorily by ‘engineering out’ the use of applied cements and/or pressures are brought to bear to reduce or eliminate VOC’s – then the practice of using a WB cement must be considered now.
• Integrating a ‘revolutionary’ method such as a water-based cement will take time and patience. The rewards in terms of Environmental, health, and safety considerations will be considerable, The substantial cost-savings in material used each year will repay the time and effort invested initially.
